VAPORIZERS FOR MEDICINAL CANNABIS

SMOKING VS PORTABLE VAPORIZERS

Why use Portable Vaporizers to consume medicinal cannabis? Well normal tobacco smoke contains many damaging tars, toxic gasses and radioactive particles that can damage the lungs and also do harm to other human organs. Mostly one’s addiction to tobacco is due to the nicotine contained in cigarettes, there are other chemicals contained in smoke that are harmful as well. It is probably easier to give up smoking than to stop using tobacco altogether. To stop smoking, you just have to use a Herbal Vaporizer. To stop using tobacco altogether may be much more difficult due to the addiction involved with nicotine.

Some tobacco consumers use tobacco only to roll cannabis joints. The tobacco enables the joint to burn evenly and stay alight. Using a vaporizer however you can get all the benefits of cannabis without adding tobacco. For medical marijuana patients therefore, it is much better to employ a vaporizer than smoke joints.

The numerous benefits make Cannabis one of the most popular herbs on the planet, not due to physical or mental addiction, but because users experience many positive benefits. But cannabis smoke can also contain tars just like tobacco smoke; so this is the reason we advise that you quit “smoking” altogether and start using a Herbal Vaporizer instead.

VAPORIZERS FOR MEDICINAL CANNABIS

Sativa and Indica are two strains of cannabis containing high concentrations of medically adaptable properties. Although used widely for spiritual and/or recreational purposes, more people are discovering that it can be utilized to alleviate many forms of physical discomfort more effectively than synthetic painkillers, as well as other forms of medication.

Medical cannabis could be ingested for some ailments; however, most patients prefer to smoke it. Smoking provides an instantaneous effect, and once achieved one can just stop smoking. The effect of cannabis in pill or tablet form has a slower onset and the correct dosage is problematic; the pill may not be strong enough, or may be stronger than required. This is the reason doctors often prescribe cannabis joints rather than pills.

Cannabis is often prescribed as an anti emetic to patients undergoing chemotherapy to reduce nausea. Because nausea doesn't let patients keep anything in their stomach, using tablets or vaporizing may be their only option.

SCIENTIFIC STUDIES

As long ago as 2006 researchers of the University of Leiden tested the high-tech Vaporizer, containing pure THC. They found the following; that "the results of our research suggest that the device offers patients a safe and effective means of administering cannabinoids. The resulting absorption of THC in the lungs is comparable to the smoking of cannabis, but without the harmful effects to the respiratory tract."

Again in 2007 the University of California, San Fransisco, published the results of their investigation in the Official Journal of the American Academy of Neurology. It stated that "Using CO as an indicator, there was virtually no exposure to harmful combustion products using the Herbal Vaporizer device. Since it replicates smoking's efficiency at producing the desired THC effect using smaller amounts of the active ingredient as opposed to pill forms, this device has great potential for improving the therapeutic utility of THC."

Using plant material (flower tops) instead of pure THC preparations, several other cannabinoids as well as a range of other plant components including terpenoids were detected. However, using pure THC in the Vaporizer, no degradation products (delta-8-THC, cannabinol or unknown compounds) were detected through HPLC analysis. Also, a substantially larger fraction of the THC was delivered to the vapor by using pure THC.

PORTABLE VAPORIZER CONCLUSIONS

These studies did not tabulate the presence of toxic gasses, such as ammonia, hydrogen cyanide and carbon monoxide, though previous studies have indicated not quantified decreases in carbon monoxide with vaporization.

Although vapour is much purer than smoke, using a portable vaporizer does not completely eliminate respiratory irritation. This effect however, could be because of the THC itself, which is known to have a strong expectorant effect. It could also mean that the temperature of the portable vaporizer is set too high.
