VAPORIZERS VS THE REST

When using a bong the herbs (usually cannabis) is heated toa high temperature, ie it is burnt, which then gives off smoke. This smoke can be filtered slightly by passing through water before it is inhaled. However even after passing through water, it's still smoke, filled with tars and toxic gasses. A vaporizer doesn't really need a water filter, as it doesn't produce smoke to begin with. Filtering either smoke or vapour with cold water can be useful. While the water may filter out a small amount of active components of the herb (like THC), this will not cancel out the beneficial effects of using a water filter. We recommend a water filter if available for the Portable Vaporizer you purchase.

IS A VAPORIZER HEALTHIER THAN SMOKING?

Yes, there is absolutely no doubt about that. We believe that with the advent of the herbal vaporizer, smoking will soon be a thing of the past. Do some basic research to learn the reasons why.

DOES A PORTABLE VAPORIZER SMELL WHEN YOU USE IT?

Compared to smoking, there is hardly any noticeable smell when using a herbal vaporizer. There can be a slight scent, especially when the vaporizer is used at a temperature that is too high, when combustion may take place. Most vaporizers are safe to use without having to worry about any residual smell.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONDUCTION AND CONVECTION?

Conduction refers to heating herbs by direct contact with a heat source, this is usually a heating element of some sort, whereas convection refers to heating your herbal mixture with a flow of hot air. The heated air passes over the herbs, and slowly heats the mix to the required temperature. You can read more about these temperatures on our blogs.

CAN I USE A VAPORIZER FOR AROMATHERAPY?

Not all portable vaporizers are suited for heating liquids, but there are some models that provide extra components that allow one to vaporize oils and tinctures.

When medicinal plants are vaporized and inhaled, this process is generally referred to as phyto-inhalation rather than aromatherapy. An extensive list of herbs that can be vaporized can be found in any basic web search.

WHY ARE SOME VAPORIZERS EXPENSIVE?

A vaporizer might be expensive because of the materials used (borosilicate glass, metal, heat resistant plastic etc.), the technique employed (type of heating element, analogue or digital temperature control etc.) or both. A good portable vaporizer doesn't have to be expensive, and an expensive vaporizer isn't necessarily better. But if you're looking for a device that lasts long and can be used comfortably, buying one of the cheapest vaporizers will likely be disappointing. Make a wise purchase to begin with, and it will serve you well in the long run, and turn out to be a very wise investment in maintaining your continued good health into the future.

IS IT DIFFICULT TO USE A VAPORIZER?

Generally it is not hard at all, but this depends on the type of vaporizer you choose and it's overall reliability. For some models emptying and refilling the herb chamber or cleaning the vaporizer might be a bit troublesome. One must always be careful, as the heating element and the filling chamber can get extremely hot. we recommend that you only carry out such maintenence on your vaporizer once it has completely cooled. Then you can safely clean the unit with rubbing alcahol (isocol) or eucalyptus oil solution.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY PORTABLE VAPORIZER?

Again, this depends on the type of vaporizer. Most require hardly any cleaning, whereas portable glass vaporizers usually require a frequent cleansing with "isocol" or any similar solvents using a cotton wool ball or a soft cloth.

VAPOUR MAKES ME COUGH; HOW CAN I PREVENT THIS?

It is likely that you're vaporizing with the temperature of your vaporizer set too high. While it might be nice to inhale concentrated white vapour (because of the strong effect), it is difficult to hold this in the lungs. By lowering the temperature the coughing will most likely either decrease or stop altogether.
